Tom Cruise Insists His Kids Must Earn Acting Roles

  Many may jump to conclusions that Connor Cruise landed the role in “Seven Pounds” because Tom Cruise pulled some strings. The “Valkyrie” actor insists that his kids must earn their acting roles and that he did not call in any favors for Connor.

Tom said, "They have to earn it. But there’s a point where there is the difference of watching the film industry and, ‘Do you want to do it? Do you really want to do it?’ "

He went on to talk about when Connor auditioned for the part in “Seven Pounds”. He and good friend Will Smith were pacing back and forth in the hall way waiting for him to finish.

"We’re standing out in the hall, we were kind of nervous, looking at our watches, saying, ‘What’s going on in there?’ "

Tom Cruise’s kids are definitely no strangers to movie sets.

"But my kids have grown up on movie sets. They’re always there. Kate is an actress and she will carry Suri around on stage while she’s with the other actors running lines. No matter what, just like when we were kids, they’re going to do whatever they want to do."

I wonder if Isabella Cruise has any interest in the acting biz and it will be interesting to see what decisions Suri Cruise makes when she gets older.

Katie Holmes Wants to Detoxify

Katie Holmes’s final week in the Broadway play “All My Sons” is coming to an end this Sunday, January 11th. We are all very familiar with the pictures of Katie looking warn out and she has good reason to be. I have read many, many times from those who star on Broadway that it is a grueling job and that rest is something that eludes you.

It’s being reported that Katie plans on partaking in her favorite detox program called "The Clear Body, Clear Mind Plan”, which is offered by Scientologist at three Gold Base centres in California and New York.

The plan consists of “a regime of exercise, sauna sweat-out, vitamins and minerals to cleanse bodies of toxins,” says a source.

"Katie is tired from balancing motherhood with her six-nights-a-week show and wants to get back into shape. The plan involves doses of the vitamin niacin to purify the body," the source added.

Whatever Katie does to rejuvenate after her time in New York, I hope she feels great and gets some rest and relaxation.

Katie Holmes Offered “Finding Neverland” Musical Role

The Telegraph is reporting that Katie Holmes has been offered the role of Sylvia Llewelyn Davies in a musical version of Finding Neverland. They are saying that the role was not offered to Kate Winslet, who starred in the film and that she “lost out” on the role.

They are also saying that Katie has been taking part in a workshop in New York for the musical. The workshop centers on Sylvia’s relationship with J M Barrie, who she inspired to write Peter Pan.

The Broadway show is expected to run later this year and will also feature Christian Borle as Barrie.

A rep for Winslet has confirmed that she will not be in the musical, but adds that she does indeed have a good voice and can sing quite well.

Finding Neverland is one of my favorite movies. I would love to see Katie Holmes play the part of Sylvia Llewelyn Davies.

The New York Post Tries to Guess Katie Holmes’s NY Spending Habits

Take this story with a grain of salt, but The New York Post has estimated what Katie Holmes has spent during her time in New York City. She has been in NY for her stint on Broadway for 24 weeks and this is what they say she has dished out:

• Her daily venti half-caf soy latte: $697
• An outfit she was seen in the other day: $3575 (mainly because of the $3,300 Chloe’s python Paraty bag)
• Suri’s coat: $375
• Bi-weekly date nights with Tom Cruise at Nobu: $4992

Taking these expenses into account, as well as her real estate purchase, The New York Post is saying that the costs ring in somewhere around $14 million.

So, there you have it.

Suri Holds Her Balloon While Katie Greets Her Fans

Suri Cruise held on to a big white balloon while Katie Holmes signed autographs for fans Friday night (January 2). The whole family left the theater after an evening performance of “All My Sons” and headed back to their New York apartment.

Katie was wearing her 7 for All Mankind bell bottoms and Suri was dressed in a very cute polka dot dress. You’ll notice in some of the pictures that Suri is missing a shoe. Connor Cruise was also seen leaving the theater.

Tom Cruise Signs Autographs For Fans

Tom Cruise was in good spirits as he left an evening performance of “All My Sons” on Friday night (January 2). Tom stopped to sign autographs and pose for pictures with fans. 

He was also seen making some funny faces as he left.

Tom has a busy January between the Golden Globes on the 11th and visiting Korea on the 17th. I can’t wait to see who he will bring with him to the awards show since Katie Holmes can’t make it.

Hitler Artifact in “Valkyrie” Causing Trouble for Cruise

Apparently an artifact that Tom Cruise used in his movie “Valkyrie” has upset one San Fransico advertising executive.

A replica of Hitler’s globe was used in the movie and Robert Pritikin, who paid $100,000 for the original globe, says that it was used without permission.

Pritikin owns the copyright of the globe’s image as well. He has copyrighted the image to prevent it from being used in neo-Nazi propaganda and was surprised to see it show up in “Valkyrie”.

Investigator Paul Barresi, who was hired by Pritikin, said, “Pritikin believes the globe should be used as a teaching tool so the lessons of Hitler’s nightmare can keep history from repeating itself.”

Most likely this was just an oversight and can be handled quickly and resolved in court.

Baressi has come up with a possible solution to the problem. "I think it would be a wonderful gesture of good will on Tom Cruise’s part to purchase the globe along with all of the other Hitler artifacts owned by Mr. Pritikin and donate them to the [Simon] Wiesenthal Center,” he said.

Celebrity Astrologist Tells Us What’s in Store for TomKat

The Insider interviewed celebrity astrologist Aura Wright about what 2009 holds for some of the biggest stars like Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie, as well as Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes. You can see the video clip here.

She says that Tom Cruise has so much power over his world right now that he can do almost anything he wants in 2009. She also mentions that both Tom and Katie Holmes are feeling the desire for a baby this year (um, duh) and she says that after July, Katie has really good baby aspects. So we could see a new little one by fall she says, or sooner I say, but I’m no psychic. :-)

USA Today Poll Says Katie is Very Exposed

USA Today ran a poll to see who the “Most Exposed Celebrity of 2008” was and although Britney Spears topped the list, Katie Holmes came in at number 6 and Tom Cruise at number 9.

Between Katie being filmed and photographed every single day, her Broadway play and being married to one of the biggest movie stars, Tom Cruise, I don’t see how she couldn’t be one of the most exposed celebrities.

Tom Cruise Will Visit Seoul for First Time in 7 Years

It’s been 7 years since Tom Cruise has visited Korea. He’ll be taking a trip for a “Valkyrie” promotional tour on January 17th. He and filmmaker Bryan Singer will arrive for the premiere on the 17th and will attend a press conference at the Grand Hyatt Seoul on the 18th.

This will be Cruise’s fourth time to visit and his has quite the fan base there. Singer is visiting Korea for the first time and he has a good fan base there as well among science fiction and comic book fans. They are fans of his hit movies “The Usual Suspects’’ (1995), “X-Men’’ (2000) and “Superman Returns’’ (2006).

Sounds like a fun trip!
